Reality Tourism opportunity in El Salvador

Read on for the latest report from the Foundation for Self-Sufficiency in Central America. They are offering a learning/travel experience this November, in which you will “retrace El Salvador’s struggle from oppression to hope, from war to armistice, and from liberation to peace” from one of the participants in this struggle, an incredible man named Jose “Chencho” Alas.

Have you ever wanted to know how Chencho got his start? What inspired him to risk his life time and time again as a parish priest in Suchitoto, El Salvador? Where did it all begin?

This November, you can see for yourself. Chencho will lead a special tour to retrace El Salvador’s struggle from oppression to hope, from war to armistice, and from liberation to peace. You’ll visit Suchitoto, where Chencho helped to introduce Liberation Theology to El Salvador’s peasants. You’ll go to Ciudad Barrios where Archbishop Oscar Romero grew up. Former soldiers, guerrillas, and refugees will tell you about their experiences during the civil war. Then you’ll spend two nights in Ciudad Romero, where you’ll meet people who have organized to overcome their history and poverty to build communities of hope and dignity.
