Here’s a nice take on voluntourism by Jeff Greenwald, author of two of my favorite travel books, Size of the World and Shopping for Buddhas. “My Fabulous, Virtuous Vacation” appears in the Living Green department of Onearth magazine and focuses on a reef survey in which he participated in Ko Chang, Thailand with Earthwatch Institute (here’s something from my visit to Ko Chang last year). Jeff also helps run the Ethical Traveler, a fantastic resource which I hope to explore more in the near future.
