A week in Chinandega—many surprises

After 11 years of living and traveling in Nicaragua, I finally pushed northwest of the city of Chinandega, onto the stunning, sun-baked Cosigüina Peninsula where I spent nearly a week exploring the new properties and awesome outdoor activities there. One of many pleasant surprises was getting to travel with Kansas-based photojournalist Jon Goering, a fellow guest at Redwood Beach Resort in the tiny fishing village of Mechapa, situated on one of the longest, most stunning beaches in the country. Jon is working on a documentary project about life on the peninsula and I look forward to posting links to his completed product. In the meantime, I’ve posted a few shots he took of yours truly (including the cowboy shot above) as we made our way around the area, courtesy of our hosts, Mike and Stacy, at RBR.
