Look for my article, “Special Delivery,” in the December issue of 5280, a popular Colorado glossy (the article is not available online, but it’s on Colorado newsstands now). The piece is about midwives in Colorado and the birthing alternatives they promote. I wrote it during the crazy, hazy, sleep-deprived aftermath of my own daughter’s birth—Shanti Ayla Berman was born on October 8, 2007, in our living room, with the assistance of two highly skilled homebirth midwives. “Special Delivery” appears on page 100, in 5280‘s Health department.
