Las Chavaladas Program for Street Kids in León, featured on Trans World Sport

I had the pleasure of working as a production fixer and translator for Trans World Sport in Nicaragua last June on a series of feature-ettes about local sports and culture. This 8-minute segment is about a program in León called Las Chavaladas, a non-profit in Nicaragua helping drug addicted children rehabilitate into society with the help of baseball. To learn more about the program and how you can help, visit Las Chavaladas, or go to Quetzaltrekkers León, another local organization that supports street children in the city.

Here are a few stills from behind the scenes, featuring cameraman Jean-Pierre Bassin:

Baseball is an important activity at all levels of Nicaraguan society. These children get to play if they leave their glue jars at the gate.
